The LAsSy project, jointly conducted by the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) at TUM and IMT Nord Europe, aimed to identify technologies and concepts to increase the level of automation in disassembly processes. Disassembly is a key step in socalled R-strategies, e.g., remanufacturing and refurbishment. However, this step is still performed almost exclusively manually today, due to the involved uncertainties regarding return times, quantities, and product condition. Automating these processes is essential to leverage R-strategies more broadly in the future, i.e., given the demographic change and skilled-labour shortages in France and Germany
