A Startup to Help Coworkers Start Working

Coworkies takes their jobs platform from Berlin to the world – with two essential stops at VivaTech along the way.

Coworkies is a global bulletin board for jobs in coworking spaces. If you’re looking to work for a coworking space or for a company housed in a coworking space, the Coworkies platform is for you. And like other successful startups, Coworkies has a VivaStory to tell.

“VivaTech is a great place to access and connect with a wide range of people,” explains Pauline Roussel, who founded Coworkies in 2016 together with Dimitar Inchev. The two of them met in Berlin and were introduced to Viva Technology by Berlin Partner, a startup incubator based in the German capital.

At the first edition of VivaTech in 2016 Coworkies tested their concept, asking people they met to respond to a questionnaire. The following year Coworkies was in beta, with a mini job board demo on their stand. But it was the connections the founders made at VivaTech that really helped them take their startup to the next level. They met with Remix, a community space with four coworking sites in Paris; and they connected with Vitra, the interior design powerhouse. The following year Coworkies met with Nextdoor, the neighborhood social network, and with the AccorHotels group, among many others. And then there were the unofficial – and entirely unexpected – encounters: the selfie with Maurice Lévy, chairman of the Publicis Groupe Supervisory Board, and the business tips from Robin Li, Chinese Internet pioneer and co-founder of the Baidu search engine.

“We came to VivaTech hoping to get a better understanding of the coworking scene in Paris,” Pauline explains. “That was our main objective. We wound up with a much wider understanding of how startups and established companies can work together.”

Since starting Coworkies in 2016 Pauline and Dimitar say they have traveled to 37 cities and visited more than 340 coworking spaces. “Today we’re listing about 250 job offers around the world,” says Pauline. “Not bad, considering we were up and running only a few months ago, and we already have 532 partners.“

Not bad at all.
