Prof. Laurent Champaney, President Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology, Vice President of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, is an alumni of Ecole normale supérieure Paris-Saclay where he defended his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1996.
He started his career as an assistant professor at the department of mechanical engineering of the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, conducting research in the field of the modelization and simulation of assemblies of mechanical structures and large size parallel computations.
In 2005, he became full professor and took the head of the department of Mechanical Engineering of Ecole normale supérieure Paris-Saclay.
During the academic year 2009-2010, he was an invited professor of the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
In 2012, in became vice-president in charge of education at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology, one of the oldest French “Grande Ecole” engineering schools established in 1780.
