Lucky Gunasekara is a media technologist and founder of Miso.ai, an AI media lab building next-generation infrastructure for publishers and knowledge organizations. Working at the intersection of news, artificial intelligence, and open digital systems, he focuses on how media institutions can adapt to an increasingly agentic web while preserving trust, control, and sustainable economics.
Under his leadership, Miso.ai has partnered with more than 50 publishers globally to develop private, federated AI systems that transform archives and editorial knowledge into adaptive research, discovery, and engagement products. These systems now operate at global scale, driving more than one million research explorations per month and accelerating rapidly.
Lucky’s work explores how autonomous agents, open-source models, and interoperable standards can help rebuild media value chains in the public interest, enabling publishers to move beyond extractive AI models toward resilient, high-value digital products.
