Xavier Jaravel is a Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Chairman of the French Council of Economic Analysis, advising the French Prime Minister. His research focuses on inclusive growth, innovation, inflation, international trade, and inequality.
He holds a PhD from Harvard University and previously served as an Inspector of Finances. He also chaired the evaluation committee of the “France Relance” recovery plan.
In 2021, he received the Best Young Economist Award, jointly awarded by Le Monde and the Cercle des Économistes. In 2023, he was awarded the Economics Book Prize for "Marie Curie habite dans le Morbihan. Démocratiser l'innovation."
According to the 2025 IDEAS/RePEc rankings, he was the most cited economist worldwide among those whose first publication dates back less than ten years.
