Daniel Barcay

Daniel Barcay is a technologist who is passionate about the immense power and promise of technology. A builder at heart – Daniel’s career has focused both on creating global-scale technologies and driving a deeper understanding and more thoughtful practices around tech. Most recently, Daniel served as The Executive Director of the Center For Humane Technology, where he helped focus the org on generative AI and its societal implications. Daniel develops intellectual frameworks to understand and respond to emerging AI issues, contributes as a speaker, writer, and co-host of CHT’s podcast: Your Undivided Attention. Previously, Daniel was a Product VP at Planet Labs, where he led teams building a planetary-scale insight platform from global satellite imagery. As CTO of Thiel Macro, he focused on real-time predictive models of market phenomena. Daniel started his career at Google, helping build several prominent projects including Google Earth and Latitude, as well as ML Research. He is a resident at Résidence Tallard, a space for living and reflection initiated by KADIST, an organization dedicated to contemporary art.
