VivaTech 2026, touched on a variety of topics with over a thousand speakers across ten stages and arenas. Several subjects came up over and over again, demonstrating the key concerns and trends developing in the tech scene.

Key Themes

In the 572 sessions certain topics rose to the top, and showed massive growth compared to previous years, showing where industry attention is heading, beyond just the buzzwords.

• Artificial Intelligence, The Rise of Agentic: This year the focus has shifted from genAI to agents. Agents were mentioned in 46% of VivaTech Sessions in 2026 up 10% from last year, and mentions of genAI decreased, only mentioned in 18% of sessions, nearly half of the 33% it was in 2025. But the attention on LLMs hasn’t declined, Yann LeCun took to the VivaTech Theater for a packed session on the future of AI, and where language models fall short.
• Establishing Digital Sovereignty: Just days before VivaTech started Anthropic announced the suspension of its Mythos model for all non-US users. This shock pushed the issue of digital sovereignty further into the spotlight. Sovereignty was mentioned in 33% of sessions this year, more than double the year before. A popular topic of discussion was the possibility of Europe moving its outsourcing from the United States to China while they work on establishing their independence. China was also mentioned in a third of the sessions, with Joe Tsai delivering a keynote on why Europe should consider looking to the east.
• The Issue of Energy: With AI continuing to rise, getting the energy to support it has emerged as a key issue. Several proponents of European sovereignty pointed out that Europe’s grid cannot support that increase, and the updates needed could take seven to ten years. Energy emerged as a key factor in scaling growth and supporting autonomy, nearly half of all sessions (42%) mentioned energy and a quarter mentioned data centers.
